Project Progress 3

Here is my project test! This test shows the project set up into the quadrants. There are no video effects and audio in this test. I wanted to see if I liked the set up before I added the audio and the transitions.

Artist Research 1: Sabrina Ratte

The artist I chose to do my first artist research on is Sabrina Ratte. The reason I chose her is because I am intrigued on her use of the digital to create very unique works. I feel that her work and area of study is very relevant to me and what I am currently studying. She prefers to work in video, as do I, and she integrates 3D animation and feedback into her works. I respect the she pushes the boundaries on the physical and virtual world.

Sabrina's work "Built in Views" is my favorite. The animation of the installation within itself is very impressive. It looks as if you have been transported to a new place. The room she uses is also very clever. It appears as if she uses mirrors and rotation walls to her advantage in order to make the viewer feel that they are completed enclosed in the space and transported into a different realm. This work inspires me to learn how she has accomplished this and wanting to be able to work like this of my own.

Project Progress 2

Here is my second progress post! This is the video in order of continuity before broken up into quadrants and before sound!

Project Proposal

For my first project, I want to explore the idea of self sabotage. I believe that most of the time, a person’s worst enemy can be themselves. Everyone has inner demons that linger in the back of their mind that frighten them into running away from the issues they are presented with in life. Whether or not you choose to confront the issues presented or run from them is entirely up to you.

In my narrative, a man will be trapped in a nightmare with himself where tries to escape from reality, also represented as a clone of himself. The man will run through corridors, try to escape through doors, elude the figure by going up stairs to no avail. The version of himself that represents reality will present him with an iPhone to show him he is running out of time. It is then up to him to decide if he will confront his reality head on or if he will try to run away, never coming to terms that he must face the outcome of his situation.

Introduction

Hello!

My name is Kristen Yurovchak and I am a senior Digital Arts major. My plans for the future are to use my degree by working in post production and video editing for television and film. I also have an interest in photography, specifically taking portraits of people.

For awhile now I have wondered about projection mapping and how someone can create amazing images and project them onto surfaces. I absolutely love Disney and the firework show Happily Ever After as well as anytime they hold special holiday events include projection mapping as part of their shows. I hope to grasp the understanding of how these things are created and hopefully be on my way to creating projection maps too and have a better appreciation and understanding for the art.
